Quote of the week

"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!"

Making a scalloped card

Hi and welcome to Technique Thursday this week I'm going to show you how to make a scalloped card by just using the Scalloped Edge Border Punch (119882)

Using the scalloped edge border punch (119882) scallop the edge of a A4 piece of card.

This is where you will have to now line up from the back of the punch. Line up the last scallop with the first whole scallop making sure that the rest of the card comes to the tips of the scallop.
Then punch the rest of the edge of the card to required size. (I did until my card came to the nearest.5.5").
Count how many scallops you have made going up the side, using this number count along the front and trim excess off (this is if you want a square card of you want anything else then adjust accordingly).
Repeat for other side, this will give you a scalloped edge just on the front of the card, but if you want to have it on the back and the front then you would need to mark the middle of the card with pencil, then continue punching until you have an completed card.
Close up of the front of the card.
 Completed scalloped card.

Hope this technique is helpful if there is anything that is not clear as always give me a quick email (email address above).

Quick and simple

Here is a very quick card for when you (if your anything like me) need one yesterday.
  1. Take a 5.5"x5.5" card (106549) and score a line 2.5" from the bottom.
  2. Then turn card around and score every 1/2" up to the line you have just scored
  3. Cut a piece of paper 5.5" x 3" (117154) and adhere above the scored line.
  4. Stamp sentiment and cut out I've used Perfect Punches Stamp set (120516) and used the coordinating punch,(119851) just to make it even quicker.
  5. Applied Stampin Dimensional (104430) to the back just to raise it a little placed it on card added a little Pearl (119247) where the dot above the "i" is.
  6. Placed a few swirls behind the sentiment.
  7. Tied a bow placed on the embossed line and there you have it a card all done in around 10 minutes.
This is a close up of the embossing.

Have a great day

Masking Technique

This is one of the cards (inspired by Lindsay Gould) we did last night using the "masking" technique. Stamp used for this was Baroque Border which is on offer at the moment only £4.55

Close up of front of card.

Firstly you need to make two masks by placing two scraps of card to either side of the card, then using a rule mitre the corners so you end up with the two masks shown above.

Place the mitred masks back on the front of the card as shown.

Then using the Baroque Border wheel stamp roll along the edge of the card. Remove the mask and you should have a stamped image as above.

Now move the masks round to the next edge and repeat the last action.

When you remove the masks you should have this lovely mitred corner. Repeat for the next two sides. Voilà you have a lovely stamped edge of a card.
Hope you enjoy playing with this technique, love to see what you do.
Happy St Patrick's Day everyone.
Sharon.
